- I will count the number of missing homework assignments in students who receive free lunches. It would be fairly simple to do since I already keep track of their homework assignments in my gradebook; it would just be a matter of putting the pieces together and tracking the students. It would be easy to group them by their typical lunch (hot & free, hot & paid, and cold) and compare the results.
- I am interested in seeing the connection between socioeconomic status and the rate of homework completion. I typically have a fairly good rate of completion from my students, but there are those that are chronically missing work. I would like to take some time and see if there is a connection with their lunch status.
- I'm just genuinely curious about this, but I also think it would help to make my instruction more effective. I think it would be interesting to compare with cold lunch students as well as students who pay for hot lunch. The results are also something I could share with my fellow teachers. If it is discovered that there is a connection, we could work on a plan to help those students to be more successful in their homework.
